Microsoft plans to introduce a universal Share button across Windows 11, making content sharing more seamless and efficient. Currently being tested in Preview Build, this feature will be available to Windows Insiders in Dev and Beta channels.

The universal Share button will appear throughout Windows 11's interface, including:

  • Taskbar
  • Start menu
  • File context menus
  • Recently accessed files

The feature, discovered in Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.4445, is currently hidden by default but can be enabled using ViveTool with these commands:

vivetool /enable /id:45738940
vivetool /enable /id:46493758

Users will be able to share files, links, and text directly from their desktop by right-clicking and selecting the Share icon or "Share this item" option. As this feature is still in testing, Microsoft hasn't announced when it will be available in a full version release.

Additionally, Microsoft is testing other new features in Windows Insider Preview, including an AI-powered "Rewrite" feature for Notepad (version 11.2410.15.0). This tool helps users generate alternative text with different lengths and tones, and is currently available to Canary and Dev Channel users.
