Tim Allen has confirmed his return as Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story 5, revealing he's already completed five hours of recording sessions for the upcoming animated film. The actor shared these details during a recent Collider interview, where he expressed enthusiasm about the project's direction.

While plot details remain under wraps, early reports suggest Buzz Lightyear will be the central character. Allen emphasized that Pixar's decision to continue the franchise was driven by the strength of the story rather than commercial interests.

"It's a very, very clever story," Allen stated, noting that both he and Tom Hanks returned because of the script's quality. He described his initial challenge getting back into character, mentioning that it took a few hours to find Buzz's voice again.

The recording process is well underway, with Allen confirming they've reached the film's third act. He explained the thorough production process: "We'll do the third act. And then, we'll go back and clean it. And then, I'll do it about five more times."

The fifth installment of the beloved franchise is scheduled for theatrical release in 2026, marking another chapter in the enduring Toy Story series.
