CS2 Majors are premier esports tournaments featuring 24 of the world's best teams competing for approximately $1 million in prize money. These prestigious events occur twice yearly and span several weeks.

Tournament Structure

The Major consists of three stages:

  • Challengers Stage

Teams are divided into three groups of eight: Contenders, Challengers, and Legends. Contenders and Challengers begin in the Challengers Stage, while Legends start in the Legends Stage.

The first two stages use the Swiss System format:

  • Teams are eliminated after three losses
  • Matches pair teams with identical records
  • Advancement/elimination matches are Best-of-3 (Bo3)
  • Other matches are Best-of-1 (Bo1)

The Champions Stage features:

  • Single-elimination bracket
  • Eight qualifying teams
  • All matches are Bo3
  • Tournament duration: 2-3 weeks (varies by organizer)
