How and Where to Watch CS2 Major Tournaments in 2024
CS2 Majors are premier esports tournaments featuring 24 of the world's best teams competing for approximately $1 million in prize money. These prestigious events occur twice yearly and span several weeks.
Tournament Structure
The Major consists of three stages:
- Challengers Stage
- Legends Stage
- Champions Stage
Teams are divided into three groups of eight: Contenders, Challengers, and Legends. Contenders and Challengers begin in the Challengers Stage, while Legends start in the Legends Stage.
The first two stages use the Swiss System format:
- Teams advance with three wins
- Teams are eliminated after three losses
- Matches pair teams with identical records
- Advancement/elimination matches are Best-of-3 (Bo3)
- Other matches are Best-of-1 (Bo1)
The Champions Stage features:
- Single-elimination bracket
- Eight qualifying teams
- All matches are Bo3
- Tournament duration: 2-3 weeks (varies by organizer)
Prize Distribution

- Winner: $500,000
- Minimum prize: $10,000
- Top 8 teams: $45,000+
