Community's original series creator, Dan Harmon, crafted a script for the highly anticipated movie that has already received emotional praise from cast member Ken Jeong. The film, ordered by Peacock over two years ago, aims to fulfill the show's famous "six seasons and a movie" promise.

Jeong, who played Ben Chang throughout the series, shared his emotional response to reading the script, though contractual obligations limit what he can reveal. He emphasized that while concrete plans exist, the timeline remains uncertain.

The movie will reunite most of the beloved study group, including Joel McHale (Jeff Winger), Gillian Jacobs, Donald Glover, Alison Brie, Danny Pudi, and Yvette Nicole Brown. Notably, Chevy Chase is the only original cast member not returning, having departed the series after season 4.

Donald Glover's return marks a significant moment for fans, as he left the show during its original run. Recently, Glover postponed his Childish Gambino world tour to focus on recovery from an unspecified surgery.

The project's delay has been partially attributed to Joel McHale's busy schedule, including his commitments to Fox's Animal Control. However, the movie's future looks promising after securing a valuable California tax credit in September 2023, though Peacock has yet to announce an official premiere date.

The Community movie represents a long-awaited reunion of the series that ran from 2009 to 2015, promising to bring back the unique comedy and character dynamics that made the original show a cult classic.
