According to recent reports, Nvidia has ceased production of most RTX 40-series graphics cards, shifting focus to the upcoming RTX 50-series. Only the AD107 chip, used in budget options like the RTX 4050 and RTX 4060, remains in production.

The RTX 4090 was among the first cards to be discontinued, leading to limited availability and increased prices, with current models selling for around $2,000 on Amazon. This trend affected the entire lineup, as production has reportedly stopped for the AD102, AD103, AD104, and AD106 chips.

The AD107 chip continues production primarily to support mainstream laptop GPUs until the RTX 50-series laptop variants launch. This strategic decision ensures continued availability of budget-friendly options in the mobile segment.

Current Impact on Buyers:

  • Existing RTX 40-series cards remain available for purchase
  • Stock levels will gradually decrease
  • Prices likely to increase as supplies diminish
  • Similar pattern observed with RTX 30-series cards

The RTX 50-series is expected to launch in January 2025, starting with the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 models. This timeline suggests a planned transition between generations, though Nvidia hasn't officially confirmed these details.
