TF2 Custom Hitsounds: Installation Guide and Troubleshooting Tips
Custom TF2 hitsounds provide audio feedback when damaging opponents. Here's how to set them up and customize them properly.
Installation Steps:
- Navigate to tf\custom\customfolder\sound\ui
- Add your sound files in .wav format (16-bit)
- Name files appropriately:
- For hit sounds: hitsound.wav
- For kill sounds: killsound.wav
Available Hit Sound Types:
- Default: Boxing-match style tone
- Electro: Three distinct electronic tones
- Notes: Eight piano-like sounds
- Percussion: Five drum-based sounds
- Retro: Five 1970s-style electronic tones
- Space: Sci-fi themed sounds
- Beepo: Classic beeping sound
- Vortex: Five choppy, extended beeps
- Squasher: Crushing object sound
Useful Console Commands:
- tf_dingaling_pitchmaxdmg: Sets pitch for maximum damage
- tf_dingaling_pitchmindmg: Sets pitch for minimum damage
- tf_dingaling_volume: Adjusts sound volume
- tf_dingalingaling: Enables/disables hit sounds (0/1)
- tf_dingalingaling_repeat_delay: Controls sound repeat delay
- tf_dingalingaling_effect: Selects hit sound type (0-8)
- tf_dingalingaling_last_effect: Sets kill sound type (0-8)
