Jason Momoa Officially Cast as Lobo in DC Universe, Making First Appearance in Supergirl Film
Jason Momoa has officially been cast as Lobo in James Gunn and Peter Safran's DC Universe, with the character set to debut in "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow."
The casting fulfills Momoa's long-held desire to play the character. In a previous interview, he enthusiastically stated: "If they call and ask me to play him, it's a f*ck yeah." The actor has been a long-time fan of the character and comic collector.
Lobo, created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, first appeared in Omega Men No. 3. The character is a beloved antihero known for his superstrength, healing abilities, and signature cigar-chomping persona.
While Lobo has appeared in various DC animated series and was portrayed by Emmett J. Scanlan in the TV show Krypton, this marks the character's first major live-action film appearance.
This casting comes after Momoa's run as Aquaman in the DCEU. His first solo outing as the character grossed over $1 billion, though the recent sequel "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" earned significantly less at $439 million.
Fans can expect to see Momoa's debut as Lobo when "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" releases in theaters on June 26, 2026.
